Occupational Health & Safety – Online Course

UNBC Continuing Studies to expand online programming, meet regional job demands

UNBC Continuing Studies has reached an agreement that will expand its online services to include an Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) certification program. Expected to be launched this fall, the certificate will provide accessible training for job seekers and industry leaders looking to fill potential job openings for OH&S practitioners.

Announcement

British Columbia’s industrial economy is projected to undergo several major projects in the coming years, with mining, gas, and liquefied natural gas undertakings already forecasted for the near future. Currently, UNBC Continuing Studies offers an in classroom OH&S certificate that prepares students for entry into such industry-related fields. Expanding its services online means an increased capacity to serve prospective students and the resource industry with relevant, easily accessible industry-standard certification, while meeting an anticipated need for skilled workers.

UNBC Continuing Studies has partnered with the Canada Amylia Education Group to create a unique, privately funded revenue-sharing agreement. This partnership reflects a growing trend towards more private investment in niche studies and online delivery models such as those offered by Continuing Studies, assuring financing that would otherwise not be provided to help program development and improve or expand existing services.

Funding to develop the Occupational Health and Safety Online Course

In 2013, UNBC Continuing Studies began expansion of its classroom programs by creating online, video-based training that maintains unique, quality programming that has come to be expected from Continuing Studies. This new development is a significant addition to UNBC Continuing Studies’ ongoing initiative to provide pertinent, convenient and engaging services contributive to local and regional growth.
